This is a truly outstanding Manuka Honey in every respect. Both the honey and the presentation are in a class of their own having won multiple awards, amongst others Gold in the 2019 Dieline Awards in the Limited and Luxury Category and also for the structural packaging.
A small group of New Zealand artisans came together over many months to craft a unique gift that is quintessential New Zealand. The desire was to give you one of nature's rarest grades of Manuka Honey and a unique experience around it.
In order to produce a Manuka Honey of such purity and strength, rare Manuka nectar is cared for and collected by the Steens family of beekeepers. Then the honeycomb is minimally processed at natural hive temperatures via their proprietary whole comb™ technology where only the wax is removed – and nothing else – the rest is yours just as nature intended. Thisensures the full qualities of the fresh honeycomb are retained including bee bread – a bioavailable and nutrient dense protein.
The box itself is designed to be a representation of the hive, and within is a paper manuka flower, which when opened reveals the product.
Every pot of Manuka Honey can be traced back to its source.
Steens was founded by Paul and Sheryl Steens who have been working in the beekeeping industry for over 38 years. They were one of the founding members of the Active Honey Association, now known as the UMF association. 36 years later Steens continues to play a critical role in the industry.
It was Paul and Sheryl's passion for bees and their endeavour for a healthy, sustainable lifestyle that was the beginning of Steens. It was these same convictions that lead them to keep their honey raw and in its purest form.
Paul & Sheryl were dis-heartened to see inferior honey being labelled as Manuka. They wanted to give their family the very best honey that nature provided and they wanted to share that with everyone.
So they set out to develop a better way to minimally process their honey, one that ensured all the natural and fresh properties of the honeycomb were retained. The result was achieved via a modern take on the traditional honey press with a proprietary process now known as Steens whole comb technology™. This takes a lot more time and care but when dealing with one of the world’s most premium honeys it’s definitely worth the effort.
